Karnataka Unveils Ambitious Plans for KHIR City near Bengaluru A Hub for Knowledge, Healthcare, Innovation, and Research In a strategic move to further establish Bengaluru as a global hub for knowledge, healthcare, innovation, and research, Karnataka revealed its visionary plans for the Knowledge, Healthcare, Innovation, and Research (KHIR) City on November 10. With a targeted investment of Rs 40,000 crore, the state envisions creating a thriving ecosystem that not only fosters innovation but also generates substantial employment opportunities.

The KHIR City initiative aims to generate 80,000 jobs specifically within the healthcare and innovation sectors. Taking inspiration from successful global models like Singapore’s Biopolis Cluster and Japan’s Kobe Biomedical Innovation Cluster, Karnataka aspires to elevate Bengaluru’s global standing in the realms of medical tourism and cutting-edge research.

One of the key features of the project is its emphasis on flexibility and encouraging private participation in the development of KHIR City. The state government plans to facilitate private involvement through various means, including land leases, special projects, and fully private models. This approach is designed to attract a diverse range of stakeholders, including private enterprises, research institutions, and healthcare providers, fostering a collaborative environment for the city’s growth.

The KHIR City project signifies Karnataka’s commitment to positioning itself at the forefront of knowledge-based industries, healthcare advancements, and groundbreaking research. As the state opens its doors to private investors and partners, the development of KHIR City is poised to become a beacon of progress, innovation, and economic growth, contributing significantly to Bengaluru’s reputation as a global center for cutting-edge technology and healthcare solutions.
