Swiggy Launches Learning Station Empowering Restaurant Partners with Advanced Digital Education

Swiggy, the Indian food delivery giant, has disbursed Rs. 31 crore in claim amounts to its delivery partners in the fiscal year 2022-23, according to a company statement. The figure represents a 10% increase compared to the previous fiscal year.

The food delivery company, which has approximately 3 lakh delivery partners across India, began offering them insurance cover in 2015. The insurance coverage includes hospitalisation, accidental death, and disability benefits. Swiggy claims that it has disbursed over Rs. 300 crore in insurance payouts to its delivery partners since the program’s inception.

As per the statement, Swiggy’s insurance program covers hospitalisation expenses of up to Rs. 5 lakh, accidental death benefits of up to Rs. 5 lakh, and permanent total disability benefits of up to Rs. 5 lakh.

The announcement comes amid growing concerns regarding the safety of delivery partners, who have been working tirelessly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Swiggy has been providing a host of benefits to its delivery partners, including financial assistance and vaccination drives, to ensure their safety and well-being.

With the food delivery market growing rapidly in India, companies such as Swiggy and Zomato are facing intense competition to retain and attract delivery partners. Offering comprehensive insurance coverage and other benefits is one way to keep them motivated and loyal to the brand.
