Rekha Menon, Senior MD & Chairperson for Accenture in India to retire

On May 5, 2023, global professional services firm, Accenture, announced new appointments to its leadership team in India. The company has named Ajay Vij to the newly created position of Country Managing Director, and Sandeep Dutta will take over as the lead for Accenture’s India Market Unit. These appointments come as the current Senior Managing Director and Chairperson for Accenture in India, Rekha M. Menon, prepares to retire on June 30, 2023.

Ajay Vij brings over 20 years of experience to his new role as Country Managing Director. He joined Accenture in 2001 and has held several leadership positions, including Managing Director of Financial Services and Products for India. In his new position, Vij will be responsible for overseeing Accenture’s operations across all industries in India and driving the firm’s growth strategy in the country.

Sandeep Dutta has been with Accenture for more than 15 years and has held various leadership roles, including Managing Director of the Products Industry Group in India. As the lead for the India Market Unit, he will be responsible for developing and implementing Accenture’s market strategy in the region, as well as driving business growth and delivering value to clients.

The new appointments come at a time when Accenture is expanding its operations in India, which is a key growth market for the company. India has been a focus area for Accenture’s investment and expansion plans, with the firm aiming to double its workforce in the country by 2025.

The company has expressed its gratitude to Rekha M. Menon, who has been with Accenture for more than 25 years and has been instrumental in driving the company’s growth and success in India. Under her leadership, Accenture in India has grown to be one of the company’s largest markets, with over 200,000 employees and more than 50 offices across the country.

In a statement, Accenture’s global CEO, Julie Sweet, expressed confidence in the new leadership appointments, saying, “I am confident that Ajay Vij and Sandeep Dutta will bring their extensive experience and deep knowledge of the Indian market to their new roles and help us continue to deliver value to our clients in India and drive growth for our business.”

The leadership changes at Accenture in India are expected to take effect immediately. These appointments reflect the company’s commitment to investing in talent and driving growth in one of its key markets.
